College has been nothing but a roller coaster ride. I definitely had times where I just needed to take a step back and assess what I’m doing and where I’m going; asking myself, where is my finish line? I had times where I didn’t know what I was doing and I was so close to not even try anymore. I kept telling myself that it’s not all about the grade but as much as I wanted to deny it, they do have an impact. Grades don’t just assess whether a person is smart or not (which is the typical way on viewing it), it assesses your preparedness and management skills, your response to stress and your passion to learn. Of course there are various factors on what makes a good grade but the things I mentioned can definitely be seen in your grade. As an incoming senior in college and viewing my grades from the past semester, I can very well say grades are very much important. I had butterflies in my stomach when I went online to see my grade. They would tell me whether or not I could proceed as a senior or not; whether or not I could graduate. When I saw my grades and knew how much I worked hard, how many times I laid in bed thinking how I couldn’t do it, I felt very proud of myself, and I should be, we all should be. Everyone who has worked hard for a grade should feel very proud of what he or she has achieved. And guess what else my good grades gave me? A scholarship, a full-tuition SCHOLARSHIP. My freshman me couldn’t even fathom having a grade of 3.0 let alone having a scholarship.  Thank you SWLC and everyone who helped me achieve this scholarship for motivating me to continue to work hard. This is definitely one of my happiest moments in college. Thank you YHWH for everything.
