“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding, in all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths.” From Proverbs 3:5-6.
It reminds me how God is so faithful all throughout my life. J

As I look back to the time when my family facing financial difficulties in supporting my college education, when my mother told me to stop from studying, when my father’s job was not able to sustain even our needs in the family.. It seems everything was going against my way, but I know within my heart that God will provide and sustain the needs of his children. I’m so thankful to the Lord because He answered my prayers and He gave me a scholarship so that I will be able to continue studying. Even the school and the course, for I have committed this to the Lord that I will find a school and course that God will use me, to be a peculiar individual not only as a student but also as a Christian to my fellow classmates, friends and also to glorify God through my studies.

Testing and challenges did not stop there, when I entered college, I was able to finish my first year but due to high tuition fees my other scholarship was not sufficient to enroll for the next school semester. However, on that year 2008 Scranton Women’s Leadership Center was introduced to me. Honestly, when I heard the program I never told to myself to apply because I’m ashamed and at the same time I know that there are other young people who’s deserving for that educational assistance. I knew then that it was hard for my parents to get money for my studies. Then I decided to apply to Scranton. And by God’s grace I was granted and became one of their Scholars.

I am a Scranton Scholar since year 2008 (Bachelor of Science in Psychology) up until this year 2018 (Master of Arts in Family Studies major in Gerontology).  I am a recipient of Undergraduate and Masters Program. I admit many times I do fail God yet the Lord is gracious. I never thought myself that I can pay for my tuition fee in the next days.

Through the establishment of Scranton, I was able to continue and finish my studies. Scranton was a blessing not only for me but also to my family, with this program the financial burden on my parents for my education was lessened. Scranton benefited me a lot as I continue prepare for the very competitive world of Education and Social Sciences. Scranton not only helped me financially in my studies, but it motivated me to strive even more in my studies and excel in every endeavor and more importantly faithfully in serving the Lord through ministries, strengthened my faith and grow in the grace of God.

This motivation by God’s grace gave me a lot of accomplishments. During my Graduate year in Miriam College I became one of the delegates in Leadership Program in Seoul, Korea and then last March 2017 I became one of the delegates in the Commission on Status of Women in the United Nations, New York City. It broadened my mind that I can make a difference and be a blessing to other people. A precious opportunity for me to be able to know and had an awareness of the different issues all around the globe that needs to provide solution. I praise God that I am not only learning on the four walls of the school room but I had this experiential learning to hear the different challenges of other people and the world. I had mixed emotion, I’m happy and at the same time I’m afraid because I know the pressure. Many people will have high expectation from you. But I know within my heart that God did not place me here without a purpose. He did not place me here because I cannot do nothing. He place me here because God will use me to shine as lights.

After three long years of hardships, failure, triumph, good and bad times I spent in Graduate studies, there’s really a rainbow after a rain and by God’s grace, “I already finish my Graduate studies wheeeew!” Through the years we also encountered different experiences sometimes the task given to us were easy but many times battles turned out to be harder to more bitter than what had been expected. But we’ve learned that if we would not stop we’d still be able to seize victory. Again, God’s grace indeed it is.
We’ve realized that there will be times we’d meeting triumph and sometimes disaster and that we would treat as challenges, never giving up and continuing to march on. And so from these experiences it made us to realize in times of weakness and difficulties, we can always find the strength in God, God who understand and taught us to trust Him with all our hearts.

As Scranton Scholar, I would like to thank all of you for continually guiding and reminding us. Thank you for helping us not only financially but also academically and who stood for us not only as advisers let me commend Ms. Hea Sun Kim and Ms. Irene Taeyeon Kwon who always there for me whom I considered my mentors and also a very good friend. For the encouragements, motivations, patience in bringing out the best in every young people like me, thank you!

For the donors and brethren who support Scranton Women’s Leadership Center, I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to say thank you very much. Thank you for supporting us and for including us in your prayers. Thank you also for letting God used you and for being a blessing to us, for trusting and believing us, because of people like you we now have a brighter future. What we achieved is also your achievement. I would like to thank God for giving me life full of wonderful blessings, for saving a sinner like me and for being my strength behind me, for guiding and protecting me for without Him I am nothing.

“Some succeed because they are destined to, but most succeed because they are determined to; so don’t loose hopes, if you don’t succeed today, I’m sure tomorrow you will and whenever you fail don’t give up easily, remember, that we have a great God, be patience and put your trust in Him with all your hearts..” to God be the glory and honor.

Thank you and Congratulations batch 2018!
