Hi, I am Natalie and I am a senior year student. Last semester was my 7th semester and I got to say that it was tough! It was a semester where you have to fight really hard. Before the semester started, I had my internship in PT Daewoong Infion, a biopharmaceutical company in East Java and it was super cool! I was in the department of quality control where I have to check samples and make sure that the samples were in a good quality. I learned a lot from my internship and it was a new thing for me. I learned about erythropoietin, protein purification, animal cell culture, biological QC test, basic GMP course, and general biologics. Later after I finished my internship, I had to make a report and present it in front of the lecturers and friends.

In 7th semester, I also joined the student service learning program or KKN in Yogyakarta city. Usually, students do KKN in a village, but I did it in the city. I saw there is still a lot of problems in the city (I thought just because it is  a city, there would be no problem because everything seems ok) but in reality the problem in the city is as much as in a village or even worse. My program at that time was biopore, it is cylindrical holes that are made vertically into the ground as a water catchment method which is to increase the water absorption capacity in the soil. The service learning program was really fun, and I am so happy I can help people to solve their problem, plus my KKN team was full of fun people and I am so grateful to meet all of them.

Like two sides of a coin, like a yin and yang, there is white and also black, there is fun and also stressful time. It was started when I did my review journal for a seminar. My topic was kind of hard and there were not many references, because of that I even lost weight. But luckily, I passed it! Thank God! I thought I was about to fail but I convinced myself that I can do it and I believed it would pass quickly.

These experiences took 6 months but I already learned a lot, I believe everything that happens to me will be useful in the future. I really feel God’s blessings through all of these times especially through Scranton. I was able to go through everyting because I had hope, and Scranton gave me that. I thought about quitting but thinking there are many people who support me, I decided to keep going. The struggles, the pain, happiness, I felt all of that and I hope in the future I could be a better and stronger person because, I believe, strength comes from struggle. It is like a quote I read: struggles are required in order to survive in life, because in order to stand up, you gotta know what falling down is like.
