"Social Work"

I still remember when I had so much confusion in my Senior High School years, especially on my 12th grade on what course should I be taking for college. I wanted to take MassCom, Archi, Engineering, Psych, and even considered BSMT or BSCrim, but I have always thought I'll never fit to any of those, and there's just something else there that is exactly for me, a calling perhaps, and that's when I discovered BS Social Work, it was not really a famous major nor a famous profession but I knew it was fate, chareng. I just really felt that SOCIAL WORK was just for me, and I never regretted choosing it, or should I say accepting what God chose for me. Thus, I believe it was indeed a calling.

I found home in Social Work, the learnings that fit perfectly to my inclination and passion to help, it molded me to be who I am today, the resiliency it channelled to my being, and I have the best mentors who kept on motivating me to be more inclined in my studies and fueled my passion even more. There were also opportunities came that I will always be grateful to the Most High! Being a full scholar, a class honor, dean's list, former SU-JSWAP President, CAS Rep, SW Representative in any Org and Academic events and an everyday learner. But don't get me wrong, the major I took was both easy and not easy to ace, I still have so much difficulties, not just in passing the subjects, but also keeping up with your mental state. Sophomore year for me was very challenging, academics were all steady, opportunities and responsibilities all came in just a single time, I gained friends and I also lost some, but I still am grateful for being here, and testifying a partial moment of my college life.

Today, as all Social Workers and Future Change Agents celebrate the "World Social Work Day!" I would like to commend all of our brave and passionate Social Workers, escpially one of the front liners against the existence of COVID-19, our Medical Social Workers! We are with you in fighting this war. Thank you for being our inspiration to study harder and do good in school to become effective social workers in the future just like all of you ?? You are one of the heroes I look up to, especially in this lifetime crisis our world is facing today! I pray that I get to join you in your unending life battles and in your position in this society some time in the future, in God's will!

Laban, SOCIAL WORKERS! Bangon lang ng bangon sa buhay!

HAPPY WORLD SOCIAL WORK DAY!
